Dearest reader,
Well, Lady Budgetdown counted the chairs.
Now she has found the price tags.
Lansing Public Schools' own 2025 compensation report lists 75 employees whose salary exceeds $100,000.
Their combined Total Compensation: $13,239,199.
At the top of the ledger:
💰 Superintendent: $483,590 total compensation
💰 Deputy Superintendent of Schools: $288,810
💰 Deputy Superintendent of Special Populations: $278,534
💰 Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Budget: $245,166
💰 Executive Director of School Culture & Climate: $238,173
💰 Chief Operating Officer: $235,417
Those six positions alone total $1,769,690 in compensation.
Remember where we left the Lansing ledger:
Pupils: −16.7%
Teachers: −15.8%
Total Administrators: +47.5%
District/Central Administration: +105.6%
Step Three does not tell Lady Budgetdown whether those positions are necessary.
It does, however, put an actual price tag beside the staffing trends we uncovered in Step Two.
And that, dearest reader, is precisely why we follow the receipts. 🪶
