Title: Ecorse - STEP 1: 10-YEAR FINANCIAL SNAPSHOT
Post by: Shadowninja on Sep 14, 2026, 04:04 PM
Dearest reader,

Ecorse Public Schools has entered the ledger, and this one tells a rather different ten-year story. 🪶

From 2014–15 to 2024–25, enrollment actually increased 11.54%, from 1,031.00 to 1,150.02 pupils.

Now follow where the dollars moved:

📚 Total Instruction per pupil: +70.36%
🍎 Average Teacher Salary: +63.15%
🏛 Business & Administration per pupil: +44.89%
🔧 Operations & Maintenance per pupil: +49.20%

But one column moved sharply in the opposite direction:

📉 Instructional Support per pupil: $2,868 → $1,869
Down 34.83%.

Meanwhile, overall revenue per pupil increased 25.92%, actually 9.91 percentage points below our 35.83% inflation benchmark.

So Ecorse gives Lady Budgetdown something we don't see in every ledger: more pupils, substantially more spending on direct instruction, considerably higher average teacher salaries — and a very large decline in instructional support spending.

No conclusions from Step One.

Just a rather interesting set of breadcrumbs for Step Two. 👓🪶
