Title: River Rouge: Superintendent & Deputy Wages
Post by: Shadowninja on Sep 14, 2026, 08:39 PM
LADY BUDGETDOWN HAS FOUND HERSELF STARING AT THE LEDGER.

Every so often, one opens a perfectly ordinary public record, expecting a perfectly ordinary number...
...and then one stops.

Looks again.

And perhaps checks the ledger twice. 🧐

River Rouge School District serves approximately 2,755 pupils.

According to the district's compensation report:

📜 Superintendent — $483,314.38 in Medicare wages

📜 Deputy Superintendent — $316,670.53 in Medicare wages

That is $799,984.91 in wages between two administrative positions.

No benefits added.

No retirement costs added.

No insurance added.

Just the wages reported by the district.

Lady Budgetdown has been traveling through quite a few Michigan school district ledgers lately, and $483,314.38 is, by a rather considerable margin, the highest superintendent wage figure encountered thus far in Wayne County.

Perhaps there is additional context.

Perhaps there is an explanation.

And Lady Budgetdown is always happy to receive one.

But the number in the ledger is the number in the ledger.

2,755 pupils.

$483,314.38 superintendent.

$316,670.53 deputy superintendent.

Some entries simply require their own page.

👑📖

With receipts and respect.
