Title: Kalkaska - 10-YEAR Enrollment, Staffing & Administrative Trends
Post by: Shadowninja on Sep 15, 2026, 03:17 PM
Dearest reader... your Lady has finished counting the chairs in Kalkaska. 🪶

And this ledger is doing something rather interesting.

Over the decade, Kalkaska Public Schools lost 17.4% of its pupils.

Teachers declined too - 12.9%.

Administrators? Also down - 16.8%.

In fact, building administration fell 24.4%, while central administration remained essentially flat at 3.30 → 3.35 FTE.
Well now. 👀

But not every chair disappeared.

Instructional aides nearly doubled, rising 93%, while other support increased 27%. And despite fewer pupils, fewer teachers and fewer administrators, total staff actually increased 5%.

That, dearest readers, is why your Lady counts ALL the chairs.

Because this isn't simply a story of "more administration" or "fewer employees."

The staffing mix changed.

And the ledger is much more interesting when we allow it to tell its own story. 🪶

Next, we shall see what those chairs cost.

With receipts & respect.
