🪶 Dearest readers, back to Bay City School District's ledger.
This time, we're comparing the two years for which we have matching Operating and Personnel reports: **FY2023-24 → FY2024-25.**
Total General Fund spending fell **$6.06 million (−6.1%)**, yet instructional spending remained essentially flat, actually increasing slightly by **$42,253**. That pushed instruction's share of General Fund spending from **59.97% to 63.90%**.
A few other movements caught the quill:
📜 **School Administration:** −2.7%
📜 **Operations & Maintenance:** −2.6%
📜 **General Administration:** **+33.1%**
Meanwhile, total personnel spending declined **1.3%**, from **$74.13 million to $73.15 million** - but personnel's share of General Fund expenditures increased from **74.55% to 78.34%**.
The ledger tells us **what changed. It does not tell us why.**
But a **33.1% one-year increase in General Administration?**
That earns a little ink in the margin. 🪶
**With receipts and respect.**
