Dearest readers, Bay City's enrollment ledger tells only half the story.
From 2014-15 to 2024-25:
**Students:** 8,160 → 6,030 **(−26.1%)**
**Total Staff FTE:** 948.20 → 852.13 **(−10.1%)**
But inside that total:
📜 **Teachers:** −18.9%
📜 **Administrators:** −3.0%
📜 **Non-Instructional Staff:** −6.3%
📜 **Paraprofessionals/Aides:** **+30.1%**
So while Bay City lost more than **one-quarter of its students**, total staffing declined by only about **one-tenth**.
That does not tell us *why* staffing changed the way it did.
But it does tell us something worth asking:
**When enrollment changes significantly, does the staffing structure change with it?**
The ledger provides the numbers.
The public can decide what questions they raise.
**With receipts and respect.** 🪶
