Our travels through Genesee County continue, and today Lady Budgetdown turns her attention to Grand Blanc Community Schools (25030).
This time, we're looking at a decade of financial data 2014–15 compared with 2024–25.
And Grand Blanc presents an interesting picture.

Down 1,033.31 pupils, or 12.2%
While enrollment declined, spending per pupil moved considerably in the other direction.

And then there is average teacher salary.

For context, cumulative inflation over this same period was approximately 35.83%.
Funding per pupil increased 24.1 percentage points faster than inflation, while instruction per pupil increased 10.8 points faster.
Instructional Support increased 72.5 points faster than inflation. Business & Administration increased 41.3 points faster, and Operations & Maintenance increased 43.2 points faster.
Average teacher salary, meanwhile, increased 13.5 percentage points below inflation.
That combination is worth examining.
Over this ten-year period, Grand Blanc's pupil count declined by more than 1,000, while funding and spending per pupil increased substantially, with some categories growing considerably faster than both instruction and teacher salaries.
But as always, these numbers do not tell us whether an expenditure was necessary, unnecessary, wise or unwise.
They tell us what changed.
