LADY BUDGETDOWN: CARMAN-AINSWORTH COMMUNITY SCHOOLS

STEP 2: The people behind the numbers.

Well, dear readers, the magic number machine has finished its second trip through Carman-Ainsworth.

And this ledger tells a slightly different story than some we've visited lately. 🧾

Over the decade:

📉 Pupils: −32.04%
👩🏫 Teachers: −29.7%
👥 Total staff: −8.9%
🏛 Total administrators: −9.1%

So yes — administration decreased.

But here is where Lady Budgetdown reaches for the spectacles. 👓

Carman-Ainsworth lost nearly one-third of its pupils.

Teachers fell at almost the same pace.

But total staff did not.

In 2014–15, the district reported 5,109 pupils and 459.52 total staff FTE.

By 2024–25?

3,471.86 pupils and 418.64 staff FTE.

That is 1,637 fewer pupils...

but only about 41 fewer staff FTE.

And tucked inside the ledger is another rather interesting little number:

Student Support jumped from 25.94 to 51.64 FTE.

That's +99.1%.

Nearly double.

Now, before anyone begins polishing the pitchforks, Lady Budgetdown is not declaring that good, bad, necessary or unnecessary. A staffing table cannot tell us that.

But it can tell us something changed.

And when enrollment falls 32% while the overall workforce falls less than 9%, the proper response isn't to invent an explanation.

It's to turn the page. 👀

Because numbers tell us where we've been.

Receipts help us understand where we are.

And Carman-Ainsworth just gave us a very good reason to keep reading the ledger.

With receipts & respect. 👑
