WHERE DID THE SALARY DOLLARS GO? — MACOMB COUNTY

After I compared 15 districts from around Michigan, readers started asking the obvious question:

"What about my county?"

So I opened two more ledgers.

I already ran the same comparison across Oakland County, and now it's Macomb County's turn.

Using the same NCES F-33 data, same FY2015–FY2023 period, and same methodology, I compared teacher salary spending per pupil with administrative salary spending per pupil across 21 Macomb County school districts.

The results are in the two graphics below, ranked by the Admin–Teacher Gap from highest to lowest.

Some districts saw administrative salary spending grow considerably faster.

Others saw teacher salary spending grow faster.

Same county. Same years. Same math.

Very different ledgers.

And as always, these figures measure salary spending by function per pupil — not individual employee raises.

No conclusions required.

The receipts are on the table. 👑📜
