📜 LADY BUDGETDOWN | CHIPPEWA VALLEY SCHOOLS
The first ledger looked at the money.
Now let's look at the students and the people serving them.
Using MI School Data, Lady Budgetdown compared Chippewa Valley Schools (50080) from 2014-15 to 2024-25 using the same methodology applied to other districts.
Here's what the decade shows:
🎓 Student headcount
16,472 → 14,276
- 2,196 students | -13.3%
Meanwhile...
👥 Total Staff FTE
1,618.15 → 1,648.71
+30.56 | +1.9%
🏛 Administrator FTE
77.62 → 89.55
+11.93 | +15.4%
🍎 Teacher FTE
866.44 → 867.95
+1.51 | +0.2%
📚 Paraprofessional/Aide FTE
203.00 → 241.98
+38.98 | +19.2%
🔧 Non-Instructional FTE
471.09 → 449.23
- 21.86 | - 4.6%
There's another reason Lady Budgetdown reports both headcount and FTE.
Teacher headcount increased from 905 to 1,026 - up 13.4%.
But teacher FTE increased from 866.44 to 867.95 - just 0.2%.
Those numbers aren't contradictory. They measure different things - and looking at only one can leave readers with a very different impression of how staffing actually changed.
The larger 10-year picture is straightforward:
Student headcount declined 13.3%. Total staff FTE increased 1.9%. Administrator FTE increased 15.4%.
Paraprofessional/aide FTE increased 19.2%. Teacher FTE remained essentially flat.
Those numbers don't tell us why Chippewa Valley's staffing structure changed.
They tell us that it changed.
And that's where good questions begin.
