Post by: Shadowninja on Sep 17, 2026, 10:51 AM
Dearest Readers,

Today's review looks at Utica Community Schools' 2025 employee compensation records, as reported on the district's public transparency page.

As with every district reviewed by Lady Budgetdown, this series isn't about deciding whether someone should or shouldn't earn a particular salary. The purpose is to present publicly available compensation information in a consistent format so taxpayers can better understand how school district compensation is structured.

At the top of the list is the district's executive leadership.

According to Utica Community Schools' transparency report:

🏛 Superintendent
Base Salary: $242,589.67
Supplemental Wages: $26,427.71

In addition, the report lists employer-paid retirement, FICA, health insurance, life insurance, annuity, and other benefits.

🏛 Assistant Superintendent – Business & Finance / Human Resources
Base Salary: $192,929.74

🏛 Assistant Superintendent – Auxiliary Services
Base Salary: $184,886.94

🏛 Assistant Superintendent – Instruction
Base Salary: $184,784.22

🏛 Chief of Staff
Base Salary: $174,601.55

Beyond the district's executive leadership, the compensation report includes a wide variety of positions with total reported compensation exceeding $100,000, including executive administrators, executive directors, directors, principals, assistant principals, supervisors, counselors, instructional coaches, managers, skilled trades, and many teachers.

One notable takeaway is that teachers represent a substantial portion of the employees whose reported compensation exceeds $100,000, reflecting not only salary but also the value of employer-paid retirement contributions, health insurance, FICA, and other benefits included in the district's transparency report.

As always, compensation figures should be viewed alongside the district's overall financial picture, including enrollment trends, staffing levels, budgets, contracts, and other publicly available records.

The goal isn't to tell anyone what to think.

The goal is to make public information easier to understand.
