OAKLAND COUNTY PART TWO: THE REST OF THE LEDGER

And with that, all 28 traditional public school districts in Oakland County have made their way into Lady Budgetdown's ledger. 🪶

Part One covered the first 14 districts alphabetically. Here are the remaining 14.

For each district, I paired the superintendent with the base/reported wage from the district's most recent available $100,000+ compensation information and the district's 2024–25 pupil count. A few numbers certainly caught my eye.

The highest reported wage in Part Two is Troy School District at $317,620.04, followed by Southfield Public School District at $308,597.24 and Novi Community School District at $295,360.98.

But look beyond the biggest numbers.

Rochester reports 14,776 pupils with a superintendent wage of $234,762.61.

Southfield reports 4,457 pupils at $308,597.24.

Waterford reports 6,774 pupils at $110,980.90.

Those comparisons don't automatically tell us whether anyone is paid too much or too little.

They do, however, show exactly why I like putting public numbers side by side.

Context can be rather revealing. 👀

As always, district transparency reports do not necessarily use identical wage terminology. I used the base/reported wage figures, not total compensation loaded with health insurance, retirement contributions and other benefits.

I'm not assigning grades. I'm not picking winners and losers. I'm simply opening 28 ledgers, putting the numbers on one table, and letting the public decide which questions are worth asking.

Oakland County is officially in the books. 🪶👑

Receipts aren't very useful if we only keep the convenient ones.

With receipts and respect.
