CARROLLTON: THE LEDGER UNDER THE CURRENT SUPERINTENDENT
Dearest readers... sometimes the ledger doesn't need ten years to start talking. 🪶
So your Lady shortened the timeline.
Tiffany Peterson became superintendent of Carrollton Public Schools in July 2022. So I went back to the 2022–23 school year and compared it with the most recent 2024–25 data.
And, well... one column moved considerably more than the others. 👀
From 2022–23 → 2024–25:
📉 Pupils:
2,228.75 → 1,985.40
DOWN 10.9%
🍎 Teachers:
103.80 → 103.89 FTE
ESSENTIALLY FLAT
🏛 District/Central Administration:
11.00 → 13.67 FTE
UP 24.3%
And before someone asks what an FTE is and your Lady has to break out the educational accounting dictionary:
FTE simply means "full-time equivalent."
One full-time employee = 1.0 FTE.
Two half-time employees = 1.0 FTE.
It measures the amount of staffing rather than simply counting names on a payroll.
Now, there's another important receipt.
School/building administration barely moved during this same period: 7.38 → 7.43 FTE.
So this isn't a story about administrative growth throughout the district.
The measurable growth occurred at the district/central administration level.
Meanwhile, Carrollton had approximately 243 fewer pupils.
Teachers?
Essentially unchanged.
Central administration?
Up 24.3%.
Does that automatically mean those additional administrative resources weren't needed?
Nope.
But when the student column falls nearly 11%, the teacher column barely moves, and the central administration column climbs more than 24%...
well, dearest reader, that's exactly the sort of thing that earns a burgundy circle in the ledger.
Fewer students.
More central administration.
The next question is simply:
Why? 👀🪶
With receipts & respect. 👑
