Lady Budgetdown: Marysville Public Schools: Step 4
We've followed the revenue, counted the staffing FTEs, and looked at the $100K+ compensation report.
Now it's time to see where Marysville's General Fund dollars actually went.
For 2024-25, Marysville Public Schools reported:
💰 Total General Fund expenditures: $32.07 million
Of that:
👥 Personnel expenditures: $25.15 million — 78.42%
🍎 Salaries alone: $14.56 million — 45.40%
📚 Instruction: $20.37 million — 63.52%
🔧 Operations & Maintenance: $3.22 million — 10.05%
🏫 School Administration: $2.06 million — 6.42%
👨🎓 Pupil Support Services: $1.84 million — 5.75%
And here's a little ledger context before anyone starts adding percentages together and wondering why Lady B has lost her calculator. The state reports these dollars two different ways.
The personnel report tells us what the money purchased, salaries, benefits, retirement and other personnel costs.
The operating report tells us what function those dollars supported, instruction, administration, operations, transportation and so forth.
Same General Fund. Different view of the spending.
And Marysville's picture is pretty clear:
About 78 cents of every General Fund dollar went toward personnel costs.
About 64 cents of every General Fund dollar was spent within the instruction function.
Meanwhile, General Administration, School Administration and Business Services combined accounted for 10.17%.
No conclusions need to be manufactured here.
This is simply Marysville's own 2024-25 spending, organized into one ledger so taxpayers don't have to hunt through multiple reports to see it. 👀

Receipts aren't very useful if we only keep the convenient ones.
