Title: Saginaw ISD: THE OTHER SIDE OF THE LEDGER
Post by: Shadowninja on Sep 25, 2026, 01:14 PM
THE OTHER SIDE OF THE LEDGER 📜

Yesterday I showed you superintendent compensation at Saginaw ISD. Those numbers are public information, and I believe residents should be able to see them.

But transparency isn't supposed to mean looking only for numbers that might make an organization look bad, even if they are correct.

So let's look at something else Saginaw ISD does with public resources.

Hartley Outdoor Education Center.

Hartley has been providing outdoor education since 1975. Its 311 acres include forests, wetlands, meadows, ponds and a creek, with students participating in hands-on experiences involving nature, wildlife, Michigan history, outdoor survival, wetland ecology and STEM. Hartley offers both day and residential educational programming.

And that's only one part of Saginaw ISD.

The ISD says it serves approximately 26,000 students across Saginaw County and provides services ranging from career and technical education and special education to early childhood programs, Great Lakes Bay Early College, technology and transportation.

People can question what an administrator is paid and recognize programs that provide opportunities for students.

Those aren't contradictory positions.

A ledger has two sides.

If I'm going to show you one, I'm going to show you the other.

🪶 With receipts and respect.
