Dearest reader,
Well, this raises a few questions.
Last night, Bridgeport-Spaulding appointed Saginaw ISD Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Collier to serve as its Interim Superintendent.
Yes. At the same time.
Dr. Collier's letter says his "role and responsibilities as Superintendent of Saginaw ISD remain unchanged."
Okay.
So, naturally, Lady B has questions.
Was the Saginaw ISD Board of Education informed before its superintendent accepted responsibility for running another district?
Did the ISD Board discuss it?
Did the ISD Board approve it?
What exactly did Bridgeport-Spaulding approve. An agreement with Dr. Collier personally, an agreement with Saginaw ISD, or something else?
Is Bridgeport-Spaulding paying for this arrangement?
If so, how much? And who receives the money?
Does Dr. Collier receive any additional compensation beyond his compensation from Saginaw ISD?
If his responsibilities at Saginaw ISD "remain unchanged," how will the responsibilities of running Bridgeport-Spaulding be handled at the same time?
And here's the question I can't quite get past:
Bridgeport-Spaulding just interviewed finalists for its superintendent position.
Was there truly no one else available to serve as interim superintendent during this short transition?
The law does provide a role for an intermediate superintendent when a constituent district does not employ a superintendent.
That answers how this may be possible.
It doesn't answer how this particular arrangement was made.
And when one public superintendent is suddenly wearing two public superintendent hats, taxpayers from both districts deserve to know who approved it, who is paying for it, and how it works.
No accusations.
Just questions.
With receipts and respect,
