Title: Gaylord Community Schools - Check Register Spending
Post by: Shadowninja on Sep 25, 2026, 02:19 PM
Dearest reader,

We have followed Gaylord Community Schools through the budget, staffing, and employee compensation.

Now it is time to open the check register.

For July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025, I identified:

⚖️ Legal: $20,900.68
📋 Consulting: $36,050.00
📣 Advertising: $13,968.76
🏛 Association dues & memberships: $33,232.34

Combined: $104,151.78.

A few receipts worth noting:

Clark Hill PLC received $14,462 in identifiable legal spending, while Thrun Law Firm received another $6,274.

Consulting was the largest of the four categories at $36,050.

And association dues and memberships totaled another $33,232.34.

Now, a reminder from your favorite ledger keeper:

A check register tells us what was paid. It does not, by itself, tell us whether an expenditure was necessary, unnecessary, wise, or wasteful.

That requires context.

But taxpayers should be able to see where the checks went before anyone starts deciding whether those checks were worth writing.
That is why we follow the receipts.

Every. Single. Time. 👑
