Dearest reader,
Tonight, at a reader's request, Lady B intended to complete the same financial workup on Vicksburg Community Schools that you have seen for districts across Michigan.
There was just one problem.
I couldn't.
Not because the numbers were difficult to find.
Because several of the records Michigan requires districts to make available through their financial transparency reporting appear to be missing or outdated on Vicksburg's transparency page.
As of tonight, September 27, 2026:
📌 CURRENT BUDGET
The page provides a 2024–25 amended budget and a 2025–26 preliminary budget.
The current fiscal year is 2026–27.
📌 $100K+ COMPENSATION REPORT
Posted: Calendar year 2023.
The applicable reporting year is now calendar year 2025.
📌 ASSOCIATION DUES
Posted: 2023–24.
The applicable completed fiscal year is 2024–25.
📌 REIMBURSED EXPENSES / AP REGISTER
The reimbursed-expense information posted is from 2023–24.
The applicable completed fiscal year is 2024–25.
Michigan's Budget and Salary/Compensation Transparency Reporting requirements are not merely suggestions. They are established under MCL 388.1618.
And to be fair, Lady B found other required records on the page that are within their applicable reporting timelines. Those aren't included here because there is no reason to criticize a district for something it appears to be doing correctly.
But the records above are the records I needed to continue the workup, and the publicly posted transparency page does not appear to be current.
So instead of a Vicksburg financial workup tonight, you get a transparency-page workup.
If Vicksburg Community Schools has more current versions of these records publicly posted somewhere I did not locate, I welcome the link and will gladly update the ledger.
Receipts aren't very useful if we only keep the convenient ones.
With receipts and respect.
