Dearest reader,
We have reached Step 5 at Roscommon Area Public Schools. The General Fund. 🪶
The district ended 2024–25 with an audited General Fund balance of $6,521,700.
Now we look forward.
For 2025–26, the district's final amended budget projects:
Revenue: $15,715,764
Expenditures: $17,066,126
Projected change in fund balance: −$1,698,157
Projected ending fund balance: $4,823,543
Then comes the original 2026–27 budget:
Revenue: $15,784,556
Expenditures: $16,339,255
Projected change in fund balance: −$554,698
Projected ending fund balance: $4,268,845
Put those together and the district is projecting its General Fund balance to move from:
$6,521,700 → $4,268,845
That is a projected decrease of $2,252,855, or 34.54%, over two budget years.
One important distinction, dearest reader: the $6.52 million figure is an audited actual balance. The next two years are budget projections. They can — and often do — change as budgets are amended and actual revenues and expenditures come in.
But budgets are also plans.
And Lady B rather likes seeing what the plan says.🪶
That closes the ledger on Roscommon Area Public Schools.
With receipts and respect,
Lady Budgetdown 👑
