Dearest reader,
Now that we have followed the money in Grosse Ile Township Schools, let's follow the people.
This comparison looks at staffing from 2014-15 to 2024-25 using Michigan REP data for staffing categories and NCES data for administrators.
Over that decade:

Down 20.45%
🍎 Teachers
87.04 FTE → 74.93 FTE
Down 13.91%
👥 Instructional Aides
9.25 FTE → 1.93 FTE
Down 79.14%

And then we get to administration.

Breaking that down:
LEA/District Administrators
3.34 FTE → 7.02 FTE
Up 110.18%
School Administrators
5.10 FTE → 5.00 FTE
Down 1.96%
That last comparison is worth looking at closely.
While pupil count declined 20.45%, district-level administrative FTE more than doubled.
At the same time, teacher FTE declined 13.91%, and instructional aide FTE declined 79.14%.
As always, these numbers tell us what changed. They do not tell us why.
That is where the breadcrumbs begin. 🪶
With receipts and respect,
