Dearest readers,
Lady B has a confession.
She did not expect this little page to grow this quickly. She certainly did not expect it to grow this MUCH. 💙
What started with a ledger, a few breadcrumbs, and a determination to follow the receipts has grown into something Lady B could never have imagined when she began.
And through all of that growth, the goal has never changed:
Get more resources where they belong. With teachers, in classrooms, helping students.
Lady B absolutely loves the work happening here now. The budgets. The staffing. The FOIAs. The contracts. The bonds. The breadcrumbs that somehow keep multiplying faster than she can follow them. 😂
None of that is going anywhere.
In fact, the Ledger is becoming the permanent home for all of it. The work already completed, the work underway, and the very long list of work still to come.
But Lady B has been quietly working on something much, much bigger. And there are BIG things coming very soon. 👀
Lady B drew some inspiration for this next venture from another transparency page doing wonderful work all the way down in Florida. Parents for Transparency (If you have family in Florida, I highly recommended you have them check this page out).

The new Lady Budgetdown website will include a place where readers can find participating educators and their wish lists in one spot.
But Lady B wants to do more than simply put them on a page.
Each week, Lady B plans to showcase one educator and their wish list right here for readers across Michigan to see.
Because imagine what this community could do if thousands of readers occasionally skipped one cup of coffee and sent a box of pencils, a book, sensory supplies, art materials, or something else directly into a classroom. 💙

Lady B plans to create a place where voters can find school board candidates, basic information about them, biographies, campaign/contact information, and links to learn more.
Lady B IS NOT making candidate endorsements.
This is about something much simpler:
Making information easier to find.
Connecting communities with their teachers.
Connecting voters with the people asking to represent their schools.
And giving all of this work a permanent home beyond the Facebook feed.
