Dearest reader,
We have reached Step 4 of the Meridian Public Schools ledger.
Time to open the check register. 🪶
Lady B pulled out several vendors and spending categories worth putting on the table:
📋 Cognitive & Behavior Consultants LLP
$42,500.00
🧾 Roslund, Prestage & Co.
$26,108.75
⚖️ Thrun Law Firm, P.C.
$18,644.06
🏛 Association dues
$17,697.42
📣 Apptegy
$9,650.00
📊 Munetrix
$5,041.00
And then there is travel.
✈️ Employee travel reimbursements, conference registrations, hotels and other identifiable travel costs:
$49,160.72
None of these expenditures, standing alone, automatically means something improper occurred.
That isn't what Lady B's check-register review is about.
It is about taking expenses buried across pages of transactions and putting them somewhere taxpayers can actually SEE them.
Remember our earlier Meridian breadcrumb:
Business & Administration spending per pupil increased 90.59% over the decade.
Yet total administrative FTE increased only 2.65%.
So naturally, Lady B went looking through the ledger.
Contracts. Consultants. Legal services. Software. Professional associations. Travel.
Those are pieces of the spending picture taxpayers deserve to see when asking where the money goes.
And there are still more receipts to examine.
With receipts and respect.
