Dearest reader,
Now let us add staffing to the Dryden Community Schools ledger.
Yesterday we learned that enrollment declined 22.98% over the decade:
👥 591.00 → 455.19 pupils
So what happened to staffing?
From 2014-15 to 2024-25:
🍎 Teachers: -5.78%
26.13 → 24.62 FTE
📚 Instructional Aides: +109.26%
5.40 → 11.30 FTE
🎓 Instructional Support: 0.00 → 0.00
🧭 Guidance: 0.00%
1.00 → 1.00 FTE
🏫 School Support: -18.18%
4.40 → 3.60 FTE
🧩 Student Support: +69.90%
3.09 → 5.25 FTE
📋 Other Support: +132.06%
10.45 → 24.25 FTE
And now administration.
🏛 LEA/Central Administrators: +55.65%
1.24 → 1.93 FTE
🏫 School/Building Administrators: +29.15%
2.71 → 3.50 FTE
📊 Total Administrators: +37.47%
3.95 → 5.43 FTE
And perhaps the most interesting number:
Total staff increased 31.68%.
65.65 → 86.45 FTE.
So over the same decade:
🔻 Enrollment: -22.98%
🔻 Teachers: -5.78%
🔺 Total Administrators: +37.47%
🔺 Total Staff: +31.68%
That does NOT automatically mean those additional positions were unnecessary. Aides and student-support staffing increased substantially, and those positions can serve very real student needs.
But this is precisely why Lady B compares the numbers over time.
When a district serves nearly 23% fewer students while employing nearly 32% more total staff — including 37% more administrative FTE — taxpayers deserve to see that change and understand what drove it.
Numbers tell us where we've been.
Receipts help us understand where we are. 🪶
With receipts and respect. 💋
