Title: Saginaw Township Community Schools - Administrator - No Certification on Record
Post by: Shadowninja on Oct 18, 2026, 07:25 AM
LADY B HAS A SERIOUS QUESTION FOR SAGINAW TOWNSHIP COMMUNITY SCHOOLS!

When a school board unanimously approves someone for an administrative position, shouldn't verifying that person's qualifications be one of its most basic responsibilities?

I certainly think so. And what I've uncovered raises serious questions about board oversight.

A reader brought a breadcrumb to Lady B concerning Marcie Winters, an assistant principal at Heritage High School. A close friend and even closer neighbor of Superintendent Kraatz.

The question was simple: Does she hold the administrator certification required by the State of Michigan?

So I went directly to the Michigan Department of Education's public educator credential database (MOECS).

HERE'S WHAT I FOUND:

✅ Valid Professional Teaching Certificate through June 30, 2031.

✅ Teaching endorsements in elementary education, English, and science.

❌ No School Administrator Certificate appears in the six credential records returned.

❌ No current School Administrator Permit appears in those records.

🏫 THE SCHOOL BOARD APPROVED HER APPOINTMENT!

According to Saginaw Township Community Schools' own board records, Marcie Winters was unanimously approved for an administrator position at Heritage High School beginning with the 2025–2026 school year.

The appointment was conditional upon verification of the required information and qualifications.

And THREE of the board members who participated in that unanimous vote are seeking reelection this November.

🚨 LADY B BELIEVES THIS IS A MAJOR OVERSIGHT CONCERN!

I absolutely expect the Board of Education to ensure that the people it approves for leadership positions are legally qualified to serve.

That's OVERSIGHT.

That's ACCOUNTABILITY.

A unanimous vote does not make questions about qualifications disappear. Nor does delegating the verification process to someone else eliminate the board's responsibility to ensure it was completed.

❓ I HAVE A SIMPLE QUESTION:

What authorization did Saginaw Township Community Schools verify before placing Marcie Winters in an assistant principal position?

If the district has documentation establishing her legal authorization to serve, I welcome that information.

Michigan taxpayers entrust school boards with overseeing public education, public spending, and the leadership of their schools.

I believe ensuring that administrators are properly authorized to serve should be among the most fundamental responsibilities of that oversight.

Especially when three of the board members who approved this appointment are asking voters for another term.
