We opened the financial ledger. Now let's look at who was actually working in the district.
From 2014–15 to 2024–25:
Pupils: −12.5%
Teachers: −2.6%
Total administrators: −15.4%
Total staff: −11.6%
So unlike some districts we've examined, Bridgeport-Spaulding's overall staffing declined almost in step with enrollment.
But the mix changed.
Instructional aides fell 66.3%.
Student support fell 62.0%.
School support increased 36.4%.
And administration? District administrators went from 6 to 5, while school administrators went from 7 to 6.
That is why I keep opening more than one ledger.
The total tells us how much changed.
The categories tell us where it changed.
And sometimes, the story isn't administrative growth at all.
📖 The receipts get to tell the story.
