A second look at the transparency page turned up the complete 2023-24 Budget Transparency Snapshot for Saginaw Township Community Schools, including both Operating Expenditures and Personnel Expenditures.

So we're replacing the earlier personnel-only receipt with the complete one.

Total Current Operating Expenditures:

👥 PERSONNEL EXPENDITURES

Salary: $28,272,846 - 44.1%

Employee Insurance Benefits: $6,518,734 - 10.2%

FICA / Retirement / Unemployment / Workers Compensation: $15,921,595 - 24.8%

Other Personnel Expenditures: $7,328

Total Personnel Expenditures:

$50,720,503 - 79.2% of General Fund expenditures

So approximately 79 cents of every General Fund expenditure dollar reported in this snapshot was attributable to personnel costs.

And instruction accounted for 63.6% of total General Fund expenditures.

No judgment attached to either percentage.

School districts are personnel-intensive organizations, and the operating side contains everything from classroom instruction and student support to buildings, transportation and administration.

The purpose of this receipt is simply to show how Saginaw Township Community Schools reported distributing its General Fund dollars in 2023-24.

And one correction deserves its own line:

Lady Budgetdown initially located an older, separate personnel report. A second review of the district's transparency page located this newer 2023-24 report containing both datasets.

When a better receipt turns up, the ledger gets corrected.
