Breckenridge - Check Registers

Lady Budgetdown has been wandering through the Breckenridge Community Schools check registers, and five names earned themselves a spot in the ledger.

From January through July 2026, the registers show:

E & S Graphics, Inc. — $10,507.20
Apptegy, Inc. — $10,391.48
School Perceptions, LLC — $9,936.23
Thrun Law Firm, P.C. — $7,731.03
June Piggott — $5,124.00

Combined: $43,689.94.

Now, before anyone gets their knickers twisted, this is not Lady Budgetdown declaring that these expenditures were improper.

It is Lady Budgetdown doing precisely what Lady Budgetdown does:

Opening the check register and showing you where some of the money went.

And these five caught my spectacles. 🧐

More than $10,000 to E & S Graphics.

More than $10,000 to Apptegy.

Nearly $10,000 to School Perceptions.

More than $7,700 to Thrun Law Firm.

And $5,124 in recurring payments to an individual, June Piggott.

That last one particularly caught my attention because the payments weren't simply little mileage reimbursements scattered through the register. We found recurring payments, including multiple $1,000 checks.

Does that automatically make them inappropriate?

No.

Does it make Lady Budgetdown curious about what taxpayers purchased?

But they tell us where to start reading.

$43,689.94. Five payees. Seven months.

No accusations necessary.

Just five entries from the ledger that seemed worthy of a little daylight.
