THE LEDGER IS OPEN: OKEMOS PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Another district. Same method. Same ten-year window.

I pulled the Michigan Department of Education Bulletin 1014 data for Okemos Public Schools and compared 2014–15 to 2024–25.

And Okemos gives us an interesting ledger.

Enrollment grew over the decade:

👥 Pupils:
4,168 → 4,607.01
+439.01 | +10.5%

At the same time:

💰 All-Sources Revenue per Pupil
$10,024 → $15,269
+$5,245 | +52.3%

That's 16.5 percentage points above inflation.

📚 Instructional Support per Pupil
$1,048 → $2,012
+$964 | +92.0%

That's 56.2 points above inflation.

🏛 Business & Administration per Pupil
$1,127 → $1,793
+$666 | +59.1%

That's 23.3 points above inflation.

⚙️ Operations & Maintenance per Pupil
$911 → $1,551
+$640 | +70.3%

That's 34.5 points above inflation.

And then there's this:
🍎 Average Teacher Salary
$63,921 → $73,501
+$9,580 | +15.0%

Over the same period, CPI-U increased 35.83%.

So while the average teacher salary increased in actual dollars, it fell 20.8 percentage points behind inflation over the decade.

That doesn't tell us why. And Lady Budgetdown doesn't fill in blanks with assumptions. It tells us where to look next.

So next, I'm opening the staffing ledger to see how Okemos Public Schools changed its workforce over the same ten years.

Same district.

Same years.

Same receipts.

📜 Let's follow the numbers.

With receipts and respect.
