Dearest reader,

Step 4 is open for Coleman Community Schools, and this is where the check register starts asking questions of its own.

The district's 2024–25 A/P register covers July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025. 69518.pdf

After stripping out things like taxes, retirement, insurance-related payments, the ESA, and other items that don't belong in the same bucket, several outside vendors stand out.

But two stand well above the rest:

Auxilio LLC — $470,860.16

Lewis Family Holding Company LLC — $272,746.47

Then:

ESS Midwest Inc. — $198,321.27
Open Up Resources — $90,100.00
Strategic Intervention Solutions LLC — $36,206.80
Sarah Owens Consulting LLC — $31,255.00
Thrun Law Firm PC — $29,126.69

And Lewis Family Holding Company deserves an extra set of spectacles.

The register shows repeated $2,000 payments to the company during the year, followed by a much larger payment that pushes its annual total to more than $272,000. 69518.pdf

Auxilio is even larger, with repeated substantial checks throughout the year — including payments in the tens of thousands of dollars. 69518.pdf

Now, a check register tells us something very important:

who was paid and how much.

What it does not always tell us is:

what taxpayers received in return.

So that is where the ledger goes next.

What services did Coleman Community Schools receive from Auxilio LLC and Lewis Family Holding Company LLC?

What contracts governed those payments?

And are those services tied to any of the privatization concerns that brought Coleman to the ledger in the first place?

I am not filling in the blanks.

I am opening them.

With receipts and respect.
