Lady Budgetdown: The Receipts Are In... Walled Lake's $100K Club

Dearest Readers,

Public records belong to the public.

Lady Budgetdown has reviewed Walled Lake Consolidated School District's 2025 Total Compensation Report and compiled the employees whose W-2 Medicare wages exceeded $100,000. The report spans four pages and includes salaries along with employer-paid benefits such as retirement contributions, Social Security/Medicare, health insurance, dental, vision, life insurance, and other contractually required benefits.

Here are the receipts.

📋 104 employees earned more than $100,000 in Medicare wages during Tax Year 2025.

Those employees include:

Teachers
Principals
Administrators
The Superintendent

The highest total compensation reported was for the Superintendent, whose combined salary and employer-paid benefits totaled:

💰 $381,167.23

As with every district Lady Budgetdown reviews, these figures represent total compensation, not simply take-home pay.

That means retirement contributions, employer payroll taxes, health insurance, dental, vision, life insurance and other employer-paid benefits are included in the totals.

Before anyone rushes to conclusions...

This post is not saying employees are overpaid.

It is not criticizing teachers or administrators.

And it is not suggesting these positions are unimportant.

It is simply showing taxpayers how public dollars are allocated.

Transparency is not about creating outrage.

Transparency is about making public records understandable.

School districts publish these reports because taxpayers have the right to know how public funds are spent.

Whether you believe compensation is appropriate or not is a discussion for the community.

Lady Budgetdown's role is much simpler:

📖 Read the reports.

📊 Organize the data.

🧾 Share the receipts.

Then let the public decide.

Because informed taxpayers ask better questions.

And accountability begins with transparency.

The books are open. The receipts are public. Lady Budgetdown simply makes them easier to read.
