📜 OKEMOS PUBLIC SCHOOLS: NOW LET'S LOOK AT THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE NUMBERS

The first Okemos ledger looked at the money.

Now I'm looking at staffing over that same ten-year period: 2014–15 to 2024–25. And this one needs a little context, because not everything moved in the same direction.

👥 Pupils
4,168 → 4,607.01
+10.5%

🍎 Teachers
207.67 → 231.17 FTE
+11.3%

Teachers essentially kept pace with enrollment.
👩🏫 Instructional Aides / Paras
11.95 → 17.65 FTE
+47.7%

🏫 Building Administration
14.90 → 13.00 FTE
−12.8%

And then we get to the line that caught my attention:

🏛 District / Central Administration
5.00 → 11.00 FTE
+120.0%

That's more than double. But notice what the numbers don't say.

They don't show administration increasing everywhere. In fact, building administration declined while district/central administration increased. That distinction matters.

And it raises the next question for the ledger:

What changed at the central-office level over those ten years?

What positions were added?

What functions moved to central administration?

And what does that growth look like when we put actual positions and compensation behind the FTE numbers?
I don't know yet.

So I'm not going to guess.

📜 The ledger stays open.
