Dearest Reader,

Step four carries us directly into Grand Haven Area Public Schools' check register. A document, Dear Reader, that rarely disappoints.

For fiscal year 2024–25, this Author uncovered $61,221.06 in legal payments to Thrun Law Firm, alongside $103,346.74 in consulting payments.

Then there were several larger vendor payments that caught Lady B's ever-attentive eye:

Landscape Structures — $434,958.00
CDW Government — $107,577.55
GMB Architecture & Engineering — $94,377.92
THRU Consulting — $86,126.74
College Board Publications — $54,980.00
Maner Costerisan — $43,250.00

A note of importance, lest confusion arise: THRU Consulting is already folded into that $103,346.74 consulting total above. This Author does not care to double-count her breadcrumbs.

And here, Dear Reader, this Author shall exercise a restraint she does not always receive credit for. I am deliberately not telling you what those larger vendor payments purchased. The check register offers a vendor and a sum, but not nearly enough to establish purpose. Lady B does not deal in assumptions dressed up as receipts.

There was, too, a measure of travel-related spending tucked within the register. But as this Author could not reliably distinguish employee travel from student or other district travel, she has left it out entirely rather than risk misleading you.

Sometimes, Dear Reader, following the money requires knowing precisely what not to count.

With receipts and respect.
