LADY BUDGETDOWN: CARMAN-AINSWORTH COMMUNITY SCHOOLS

Well, well, well.

A reader rolled the Lady Budgetdown magic number machine toward Carman-Ainsworth, and the ledger promptly spit out something worth discussing. 🧾

Over the last decade:

📉 Pupil count: -32.04%
💰 Revenue per pupil: +71.69%
📚 Instruction per pupil: +48.88%
🗂 Instructional support per pupil: +158.19%
🏛 Business & administration per pupil: +95.19%
🔧 Operations & maintenance per pupil: +150.28%
👩🏫 Average teacher salary: +7.63%

And there, dear readers, is where Lady Budgetdown's eyebrow went up. 👀

Inflation over the same period was approximately 35.83%.

So while the district was serving nearly one-third fewer pupils, revenue per pupil climbed 71.69%, business and administration climbed 95.19%, and operations and maintenance climbed 150.28%.

Average teacher salary?

Just 7.63%, a whopping 28.20 percentage points below inflation.

Now, the ledger does not tell us why.

It simply lays the receipts on the table and asks the rather impolite question numbers have a habit of asking:

If considerably more money was coming in per pupil...

where was it going? 🧐

Looks like the magic number machine has earned itself another trip through Carman-Ainsworth.

With receipts & respect. 👑
