MATTAWAN CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL: NOW LET'S LOOK AT THE PEOPLE

Step 1 showed us where the money moved.

Step 2 looks at what happened to staffing over the same decade.

And Mattawan's numbers tell an interesting story.

From 2014-15 to 2024-25:

Pupil count increased 7.5%.

Teacher FTE increased 5.6%.

Instructional aides increased 44.2%.

School support increased 37.8%.

Total staff increased just 2.9%.

But there's one part of the ledger that moved considerably faster.

Total administrative FTE increased 29.4% — from 17.00 to 22.00.

And when we separate those administrators, the change becomes even more interesting.

School administrators:

11.00 → 11.00
No change.

District/LEA administrators:

6.00 → 11.00
Up 83.3%.

In other words, the entire net increase in administrative FTE occurred at the district level.

That deserves some context alongside what we found in Step 1.

Over the same decade, Mattawan's Business & Administration spending per pupil increased 83.78%, while average teacher salary actually declined 5.17%.

Does that mean those additional district-level administrative positions weren't needed?

No. These numbers alone can't tell us that.

But when enrollment grows 7.5%, teacher staffing grows 5.6%, total staffing grows 2.9%, and district-level administrative staffing grows 83.3%, I think the ledger gives us a perfectly reasonable question to ask:

What changed in Mattawan's administrative structure over the decade — and what drove that growth?

That's where the receipts point next.

👑 With receipts and respect.
