Dearest reader,

Next stop in the ledger: Parchment School District. 📚

A look back at 2014–15 compared with 2024–25 gives us an interesting set of numbers.

📉 Fall pupil count:
1,685.00 → 1,537.08
Down 8.78%

💰 Per-pupil spending/revenue:

All Sources Revenue
$9,952 → $16,379
Up 64.58% nominally
Up 21.17% after inflation

Total Instruction
$5,717 → $8,930
Up 56.20% nominally
Up 15.00% after inflation

Instructional Support
$938 → $2,614
Up 178.68% nominally
Up 105.16% after inflation

Business & Administration
$1,432 → $2,262
Up 57.96% nominally
Up 16.29% after inflation

Operations & Maintenance
$1,009 → $1,489
Up 47.57% nominally
Up 8.64% after inflation

🍎 Average Teacher Salary:
$54,985 → $59,847

That is an 8.84% nominal increase — but after adjusting for inflation, average teacher salary declined 19.87% in real purchasing power.

So over this 10-year window, Parchment had fewer pupils, real per-pupil revenue increased, every spending category shown on the ledger increased after inflation, while average teacher salary did not keep pace with inflation.

Those are the numbers.

What they say about the district's priorities?

As always, dearest reader, that judgment belongs to you. 🪶

With receipts and respect,
