Dearest reader,

Next stop in the Meridian Public Schools ledger: employee compensation.

According to Meridian's own 2025 compensation disclosure, 8 employees had Medicare W-2 wages exceeding $100,000.

Combined total compensation for those eight employees:

💰 $1,489,524.57

At the top of the ledger:

👑 Superintendent
$260,246.02 total compensation

📚 Director of Learning
$198,531.53

🏫 Elementary Principal / Director of State & Federal Programs
$189,889.86

🎓 High School Principal / Project Based Learning Coordinator
$185,863.63

🍎 Teacher / Coach
$178,028.55

🏫 Junior High Principal
$168,826.25

🎓 High School Dean of Students / Coordinator of Student Success & Career Programs
$165,903.08

🍎 Teacher / Coach
$142,235.65

A reminder, dear reader: these are TOTAL COMPENSATION figures, not simply salaries.

Total compensation includes the district-reported wages and applicable benefits shown in its disclosure, including items such as retirement, FICA, insurance and tax-sheltered annuity contributions.

And there is something worth remembering from our first Meridian breadcrumb:

Over the same 10-year period, average teacher salary increased just 2.67% — a 24.42% decline after adjusting for inflation.

Different datasets. Different measurements.

But together, they give taxpayers another piece of the picture.

Next, Lady B is heading into the check register. 🪶

With receipts and respect.
