WHAT'S GOING ON WITH THE SASA POOL?

Dearest readers, while Your Lady was wandering through the Bond 2020 ledger, something rather curious floated to the surface.

A swimming pool.

And this one doesn't require allegations, rumors, or assumptions. Just the district's own words.

📜 AUGUST 2024

Saginaw Public Schools acknowledged that portions of the SASA renovation were not yet finished, including the swimming pool.

The district told families its construction management team anticipated the entire project would be:
"100% complete by the end of January 2025."

So Your Lady wrote that date in the ledger.

January 2025 came and went.

Then came August 2026.

📜 AUGUST 5, 2026

In a back-to-school message, Superintendent Ramont Roberts wrote:

"All construction from Bond 2020 has been completed."

Well.

That sounds rather definitive.

Except the very same district announcement also said:

"The final phases of the SASA performing arts center and SASA pool will open during the 2026-27 school year."

🪶 And that's where Your Lady's quill stopped.

If all Bond 2020 construction has been completed...

What are the "final phases" of the SASA pool?

Is the physical construction finished and the facility simply awaiting inspections, commissioning, equipment, permitting, or something else?

Did the scope or completion timeline change?

And most simply:

WHEN WILL THE SASA POOL ACTUALLY OPEN?

Your Lady does not have evidence that the pool has been abandoned. I have not found evidence that the district has decided not to open it. And I am not going to turn an unanswered question into an allegation.

But the district originally told families SASA was expected to be 100% complete by the end of January 2025.

More than a year and a half later, families were still being told the pool's "final phases" would open sometime during the 2026-27 school year.

So perhaps the district can help us reconcile its own statements.

All construction is complete.

The pool still has "final phases."

What's going on with the SASA pool?
