SAGINAW PUBLIC SCHOOLS: WELCOME TO THE $100K+ LEDGER

Well, dear readers, Lady Budgetdown has reached Step 3, which means it is time to open the district's own compensation disclosure.

And there are some rather large numbers sitting inside.

For 2024–25, Saginaw Public Schools disclosed 13 positions in its $100,000+ report.

Combined 2025 gross pay:
$1,986,068.16

Combined total compensation:
$2,990,505.55

But I was particularly curious about central administration and leadership.

Eight of those positions fall into that group.

Their combined gross pay: $1,357,540.24.

Their combined total compensation: $2,012,144.49.

And sitting at the top of the ledger is the superintendent:
$250,000 contract amount
$302,609.12 gross pay
$433,793.05 total compensation

Followed by the Deputy Superintendent of Fiscal Services & Operations:
$173,773 contract amount
$202,398.27 gross pay
$295,935.05 total compensation.

Now remember what the earlier ledgers showed.

Saginaw lost 28.1% of its pupils over the decade, while administrative FTE increased.

And now we know what the upper end of that administrative structure costs.

Lady Budgetdown isn't suggesting these employees shouldn't be compensated for their work.

I'm simply putting the staffing ledger beside the compensation ledger.

Because sometimes the most interesting part of following the money is seeing where all the breadcrumbs eventually meet. 👀🪶

With receipts and respect.
