Dearest reader,

The breadcrumbs are pouring in tonight. And one breadcrumb about SISD travel has quickly turned into quite the trail.

Let me make something clear before we begin: attending professional conferences is not, by itself, unusual for a superintendent.

That isn't the question.

The question is:

✈️ How much travel occurred, where did they go, who went, what was the public cost, and what did taxpayers receive from it?

A reader sent Lady B a travel timeline involving Saginaw ISD Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Collier. Some of these trips have already been corroborated through public posts by Dr. Collier or Saginaw ISD. Others remain breadcrumbs that I am continuing to verify.

Here is the timeline the reader provided:

📍 March 2022 — London, England, followed by Paris, France
Innovative Educational Leaders Conference / BETT

📍 October 2022 — Panama
Global Connections Conference

📍 April 2023 — Dallas, Texas
International Thought Leader Network

📍 July 2023 — St. Louis, Missouri
NSPRA Conference

📍 October 2023 — Orlando, Florida
Future of Education Technology Conference

📍 December 2023 — Anaheim, California
AESA Conference

📍 January 2024 — Orlando, Florida
Future of Education Technology Conference

📍 February 2024 — AASA Conference / National Conference on Education

📍 April 2024 — San Diego, California
ASU + GSV

📍 July 2024 — Bellevue/Seattle, Washington
National School Public Relations Association Conference

📍 March 2025 — Chicago, Illinois
AASA / Apptegy

📍 March 2025 — New Orleans, Louisiana
National Conference on Education

📍 July 2025 — Omaha, Nebraska
Community & Leadership Summit

📍 July 2025 — NSPRA Conference

📍 November 2025 — Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

AASA National Superintendent Symposium

That is the breadcrumb list.

And now Lady B has a rather large ledger to reconcile.

I have already spent hours going through SISD check registers. But, as I previously explained, those registers do not necessarily capture the complete cost of travel because some expenses may have been charged directly to district credit cards.

So I am not putting a grand total on this yet.

Airfare. Hotels. Conference registrations. Meals. Ground transportation. District credit cards. Other employees traveling alongside the superintendent.

Those receipts matter.

Because the question isn't whether professional development has value.

The question is what taxpayers paid for this particular amount of travel—and what they received in return.

And judging by my inbox tonight, dear reader...

the breadcrumbs are still coming.

With receipts and respect,
Lady Budgetdown
