LADY BUDGETDOWN: THE TOP 10 THAT SPEND THE LEAST ON OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE 🏫

Dearest readers,

Out of approximately 530 traditional public school districts in Michigan, which 10 spend the LEAST amount of money per student on operations and maintenance?

According to the Michigan Department of Education's 2024–2025 Bulletin 1014, here they are!

🏫 THE TOP 10 — LOWEST O&M SPENDING PER STUDENT

1. Brighton Area — $750
2. Mar Lee — $754
3. Novi Community — $758
4. Nottawa Community — $844
5. Vestaburg Community — $858
6. Berkley — $868
7. Western — $870
8. Stanton Township — $871
9. Berrien Springs — $938
10. Saginaw Township Community — $940

Now, here's where Lady B gets curious.

Operations and maintenance spending helps keep school buildings running, including utilities, custodial services, repairs, and general upkeep.

Spending less isn't necessarily a bad thing. Some districts may simply be more efficient than others.

But I have a few questions for my readers!

❓ Is YOUR school district on this list?

❓ Are your school buildings in good condition?

❓ When maintenance issues arise, are they addressed in a timely manner?

❓ Are there ongoing problems with heating, cooling, plumbing, roofs, or other building conditions?

❓ Or is your district doing a great job maintaining its facilities while spending less?

I'm genuinely interested in hearing BOTH the good and the bad.

Because the numbers tell me how much a district spends.

But the people who walk through those buildings every day can tell me a whole lot more about what those dollars actually accomplish.
As always, with receipts and respect. 💜
