Dearest reader... your Lady has taken the ledger north. Quite a bit north, actually. 🪶🧤

Welcome to Kalkaska Public Schools.

And our first ten-year look has produced a rather interesting set of receipts.

From 2014–15 to 2024–25:

📉 Pupil count: −17.4%

💰 Revenue per pupil: +72.6%

📚 Instruction per pupil: +75.7%

🪶 Instructional support per pupil: +23.4%

📋 Business & administration per pupil: +55.9%

🏫 Operations & maintenance per pupil: +67.5%

🍎 Average teacher salary: +34.8%

For comparison, inflation over the decade was approximately 35.8%.

Now, dearest readers, there are a few breadcrumbs on this particular page of the ledger.

Enrollment fell by more than 17%.

Yet revenue per pupil rose more than 72%, and importantly, instruction per pupil rose even faster, nearly 76%. That deserves its place on the ledger just as much as anything else.

Meanwhile, average teacher salary increased 34.8%, essentially keeping pace with inflation, but falling just slightly short.

No verdicts from your Lady.

We have only opened the ledger.

Next, we count the chairs. 👀🪶

With receipts & respect.
